My most excellent friends,

Sorry for not saying boola boola for so long. I've been hyper busy. Mostly travelling back and forth to England almost every week.

Those of you who happen to have mail aliases set for me pointing to white@silver.dl.embl-heidelberg.de should change it (real soon) to rjwhite@math.uwaterloo.ca which is probably the most stable mail address I have. This machine (silver) could cease to exist in as little as a week. maybe.

If all goes well, in a week, I am moving to

About 35 miles north of the center of London, 12 miles south of Cambridge. Sorry, no postal code yet, or phone.

I am being sent to a big empty field in England to turn it and some old Saxon bones and a bag of money into a computing environment for a new institute called the European BioInformatics Institute (EBI) which will be part of a molecular biology campus (also yet to be built from aforementioned field).

So for awhile, until I can put something together, which could take months, the best e-mail address is the UW one (which will *probably* be forwarded to rj@sanger.ac.uk). The (silver) machine will hopefully follow me one day and become part of the EBI network. Hopefully in a couple of months I can give you a proper EBI e-mail address. (I guess it's safe to say that rj@sanger.ac.uk is a stable address too)

So this is a close to RJs Most Excellent Adventures in Germany. Sorry there were so few and so boring, but not much has happened to me here. I enjoyed my time in Heidelberg and would be happy to stay here (I could if I wanted), but I am also looking forward to moving to the UK.
